Lavender love.

Lavender love.
One of my favorite perennials. I have several spots in my garden with lovely mature bushes.

A rite of summer is a daily marauding of my lavender plants for a handful of instantly invigorating blossoms. There's just nothing like them. I also love an occasional cup of tea, tastes just like summer. One of God's gifts to His planet.

"Lavender flowers have long since been used to treat digestive problems, insomnia, anxiety, and restlessness. Until World War I, lavender was used to treat and disinfect wounds. For centuries, English farmers would place lavender flowers in their hats to prevent headache and sunstroke. Women would place sachets of lavender in their closets and wardrobes for fragrance, in addition to using it in potpourri. Hospitals used lavender as an antiseptic and disinfectant to sterilize surfaces and equipment.
Today, lavender is most commonly used for anxiety, depression, mental exhaustion, insomnia, scrapes and wounds, digestive problems, headaches, skin problems and women's health problems. In addition to this, lavender can be used to treat exhaustion, heat exposure, fevers, aches and pains, over-exertion, jet lag, rashes, sprains, sunburn, sunstroke, bruises and burns. It can also be used as a disinfectant and insect repellent. Lavender is an antiseptic, natural antibiotic, sedative, detoxifier." world wide web

Lovely handbuilt soap embedded with lavender. All bars are over 3 oz by quite a few slashes some are 3.5 oz. The fresh scent of real lavender permeates the bar.

Eliza Doolittle: she cleaned up real good.‘Oh wuuudn’t it be loverly.’

Well yes, it is!Hand milled, hot processed handmade soap, not from a commercial base. Each batch is made from scratch using a special formula of lye and a specific weight of calculated oils to provide lots of lather and lots of mildness.

Raw ingredients are used the old fashioned way. These bars retain their natural glycerin and each batch is enriched with Shea Butter and Olive Oil. This soap is not made from a base, it is not melt and pour. These bars are cured specifically according to the hot process method. All my soaps are plant based, never animal fat and I only use high quality scenting oils. I use a bar from each batch for quality control. Please try to keep your soap completely dry between uses to keep it hard and long-lasting.

Hey Christine! So nice that you stopped by. I went back and got some links for the lavender, I usually try to get more info on the herbal additives I use, I am just so slammed for time lately that I just skipped it for the lavender when I first posted.I thought it was really interesting too...I think it is used primarily in aroma therapy for the anxiety. Herbs are so interesting!

Hey Vanessa! I know I've missed your blog too...hope you get a moment soon to do a new post! Blessings!
