Christmas Ideas, Unique Jewelry!

Three layers of authentic pre 50's buttons are re purposed to create an architectural focal piece. Gray early plastic nestles a gorgeous bakelite brown ridged focal button topped by a three layered elegant coat of arms imbedded with a bali copper end. So striking.

Buttons are historical, architectural and interesting. Easy to layer with chains, Vintage Buttons are getting scarce but perfect as historical keepsakes and so easy to wear with anything.

The pendant measures 1 1/4" in diameter and has a silver plated bail. It hangs from a 1.5mm 18 inch black rubber necklace cord with lobster clasp and adjustable chain with a butterfly charm attached.

I'm on the prowl

I'm on the hunt for something new for the Thanksgiving menu this year. My family loves Thanksgiving dinner, and so do I. I get lots of help that day to create this massive meal that saves me from cooking for the next couple of days. The pie is the easiest for me to experiment with, try to slip in a tofu turkey? I'd get run out of Dodge. ...Or Plymouth.
The same holds true mostly, for the mashed potatoes and the gravy. I have been able to spice up the potatoes with roasted garlic (can I get an amen) and I have tried gourmet stuffing with lots of creative stuff (walnuts, mushrooms, sausage, bacon, smoked oysters -my fave-) in lots of different combinations, but when my daughter asked if we could just have stove top stuffing one year, I took the hint.

I knew that my creative combos went over like a lead balloon and I am back to onions and celery in the stuffin' as the sole flavor enhancers. Might try a nice cornmeal stuffing, it sounded good on the food network, or was it just because Tyler was behind the stove...

mmhmm, pro'ly.
But to my point,
ooooooooo look what I found from Taste of Home.

Blog Hop!

Welcome to my little corner of Operation Write Home's blog hop! A little about me... I am a pathological crafter.

My interests lie toward everything. ...If it will cut, glue, paste, click, make a mark, spread with a brush, merge layers, crimp, string, saponify, melt, pour, thread, dye, knead, bead, fire, glaze... then its my animal.

But even as I write these words, I sit snug in my home because we in America have a well trained and very brave military.

Operation Write Home is an organization of all kinds of crafters who have one thing in common... we want to show our support to that far away service person who is actively deployed on foreign soil.

One thing I can do is write a note to somebody I don't know and just say hi. This organization will take our handwritten notes and pack them up with the handmade cards and send them to the Middle East to be distributed there to all branches of the military. There are some amazing statistics about where these cards go, and how many are shipped off per month. There are so many servicemen who don't have much family and a note from 'home', even if they don't know me personally can really brighten up a day.

And ESPECIALLY at this time of year. Even if you are not a holiday person, you have no idea how much you are personally affected by the heartwarming stories and the Christmas lights and all the sentiments of the season that you are bombarded with as the holidays draw near.

I am hoping to spread some joy to somebody who doesn't get to roll their eyes toward heaven and say "Frosty the snowman...again?" or ..."fruitcake, you shouldn't have" this year.

I am not ashamed to say I bought some cards and am writing as many as I can before the deadline to send a good wish to a brave person. They call that an "Any Hero card". If you are not part of the blog hop, and have just wandered by this post, click the links and check out Operation Write Home. It's a super easy way to give.

Here's a quick link at how and where the cards are distributed. http://www.owhhomefrontblog.org/2009/11/mailroom-monday-report-nov-9-2009.html

YYYYNext hop: Kathy has a super super cute valentine and a very thorough list neatly lined out of some of the basics on making a card, and guess what else!!! a drawing. yay. So get to hoppin! http://www.scrapinkats.blogspot.com/
