Blog Hop!

Welcome to my little corner of Operation Write Home's blog hop! A little about me... I am a pathological crafter.

My interests lie toward everything. ...If it will cut, glue, paste, click, make a mark, spread with a brush, merge layers, crimp, string, saponify, melt, pour, thread, dye, knead, bead, fire, glaze... then its my animal.

But even as I write these words, I sit snug in my home because we in America have a well trained and very brave military.

Operation Write Home is an organization of all kinds of crafters who have one thing in common... we want to show our support to that far away service person who is actively deployed on foreign soil.

One thing I can do is write a note to somebody I don't know and just say hi. This organization will take our handwritten notes and pack them up with the handmade cards and send them to the Middle East to be distributed there to all branches of the military. There are some amazing statistics about where these cards go, and how many are shipped off per month. There are so many servicemen who don't have much family and a note from 'home', even if they don't know me personally can really brighten up a day.

And ESPECIALLY at this time of year. Even if you are not a holiday person, you have no idea how much you are personally affected by the heartwarming stories and the Christmas lights and all the sentiments of the season that you are bombarded with as the holidays draw near.

I am hoping to spread some joy to somebody who doesn't get to roll their eyes toward heaven and say "Frosty the snowman...again?" or ..."fruitcake, you shouldn't have" this year.

I am not ashamed to say I bought some cards and am writing as many as I can before the deadline to send a good wish to a brave person. They call that an "Any Hero card". If you are not part of the blog hop, and have just wandered by this post, click the links and check out Operation Write Home. It's a super easy way to give.

Here's a quick link at how and where the cards are distributed. http://www.owhhomefrontblog.org/2009/11/mailroom-monday-report-nov-9-2009.html

YYYYNext hop: Kathy has a super super cute valentine and a very thorough list neatly lined out of some of the basics on making a card, and guess what else!!! a drawing. yay. So get to hoppin! http://www.scrapinkats.blogspot.com/

PS if you twittered on in here and didn't start at the beginning, here's the link to start from blog one and get some heart-warm and some inspiration. http://www.owhhomefrontblog.org/

This is such a heartening venture. Here in Canada, the painting guild I belong to also creates and sends cards for our troops. They range from painted, thru to stamped and embossed cards in every style imaginable and are received with great appreciation. It's such a little thing we can do for our heroes!

Very funny, pathological? I never thought of that word to describe a crafting habit, er obsession, but true nonetheless. What a bright and happy card!
